G321 Foundation Portfolio Evaluation Questions

Below are the evaluation questions  and the marking criteria for level 4. Remember you must demonstrate excellence in the creative use of ICT and frequent and accurate use of appropriate media terms to reach level 4.

The evaluation is due Friday 26th April.

Marking Criteria for the Evaluation
Candidates will evaluate their work digitally. Where candidates have worked in a group, the evaluation may be presented individually or collectively but the teacher must allocate a mark according to the contribution/level of understanding demonstrated by the individual candidate. Each candidate should give a clear indication of their role in any group evaluation.
The questions that must be addressed in the evaluation are:

  1. In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
  2. How does your media product represent particular social groups?
  3. What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?
  4. Who would be the audience for your media product?
  5. How did you attract/address your audience?
  6. What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?
  7. Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?
Level 4 16–20 marks
Excellent skill in the use of appropriate digital technology or ICT in the evaluation.
Excellent understanding of issues around audience, institution, technology, representation, forms and conventions in relation to production.
Excellent ability to refer to the choices made and outcomes.
Excellent understanding of their development from preliminary to full task.

IMPORTANT NOTICE TO ALL A2 STUDENTS

These are the rules regarding the use of sound and music in your advanced portfolio work:

What is the Rule on Soundtracks?

All material should be original, EXCEPT at AS level copyright-free music may be used. At A2, for MUSIC VIDEO a copyright track may be used but there should be evidence in research and planning of candidates seeking permission to use it. All candidates are strongly encouraged to explore the variety of possibilities of sound design and not just to use music!

Important Notice To All A level Media Student Bloggers And Vloggers

Due to certain restrictions within the blogger site videos often fail to upload or do not playback. To resolve this issue you should create a youtube account, upload the videos there and then when uploading videos to your blog simply use the upload from youtube option. This seems to be the most reliable way of getting videos up.
I appreciate that it means you have to create a youtube account but it is just more evidence of the way Google is becoming an ever more dominant force in our lives!
It's all synergetic relationships you know!
Good luck and happy blogging!
